It’s January 2025!
Happy New Year!
I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy the holiday festivities in the exact manner you dreamed up. Hubby and I got to have some time off work and it was a great opportunity for us to rest. Long days of sleeping in. Different days blurring into each other without the need to wake up at a specific time or complete tasks with a due date.
And now it’s time for us to step back into reality. We’re back to work soon and it got me thinking of this year and what I want it to look like.
I’m not a fan of New Year’s resolutions, so in the past, I’ve leaned into words to guide me through the year. Most of the time, these words have been easy to choose based on the direction I’m looking to take, and what growth looks like.
This year, i’m leaning into a phrase, a reminder of sorts to myself as I navigate 2025 and all that comes with it. My focus this year is to be gentle with myself. We’re only five days into the year, and I’m already reminding myself to be gentle.
You see, during the festive break, I set myself a long list of to-dos to action by the 4th of January which is long gone. Some of these things included pottering around the house, mending items in my wardrobe, deep cleaning our home, and reading a bunch of books. Without divulging too much, let’s just say that I only got through 10% of my list.
On another note, I’ve been thinking about some of the really random things i’d love to do this year. These aren’t necessarily goals, but more-so little things I can do to add a little more fun and wonder to the year.
Making my own sourdough bread. Visiting the snow in June/July. Send out handwritten cards. Go see some penguins. Visit some of the European-style towns here in Victoria. Make garlic butter. Perfect my homemade iced coffee.
I want my 2025 to be a little more playful and cheerful.
Do you have anything you’re looking forward to trying this year? Cheers to a delicious and decadent year.
